About the Accounting Behavior and Organizations Section

The ABO section’s mission is to stimulate interchange and research on the relationship between behavioral science and accounting.

Dues: $25 ($6 for students)

Journal: Behavioral Research in Accounting (BRIA)

Section Objectives

To stimulate interchange and research on the relationship between behavioral science and accounting. This might include, for example, the behavioral impact of accounting information, the incorporation of behavioral and attitudinal measures in accounting and human resource accounting.

To promote the integration of organizational and general system theories with developments in accounting theory. The former might include such constructs as organizational effectiveness, open vs. closed systems, contingency theory, constituencies, organizational adaptability or resilience, and social responsibility accounting.

Hello! It is an honor to serve the ABO section as president for 2017-2018. 

I would like to offer my sincere appreciation to all of the current and former ABO officers and section volunteers who spend countless hours to organize conferences and doctoral consortia, review papers, provide discussant feedback, and serve on committees. The ABO section is truly an amazingly collegial group of individuals who actively support each other in the pursuit of behavioral accounting research.

Midyear Meeting

The 2018 ABO Research Conference

October 11-13, 2018 -- Renaissance Phoenix Downtown Hotel, Phoenix, AZ.  

The 2018 ABO Research Conference will be held at The Renaissance Phoenix Downtown Hotel in the vibrant downtown of Phoenix, Arizona October 11-13, 2018. The Doctoral Consortium will be held on October 11-12. The Research Conference will commence with a luncheon on Friday, October 12 and continue throughout the day on Saturday, October 13.
