CPE Session 4: Saturday, August 2, 1:00
– 5:00 PM
Multimedia Presentations in Minutes (without
any programming)
Description/Objectives:
This session will illustrate how to create multimedia
presentations using Microsoft Producer. This
is a newly released program that works with
PowerPoint allowing users to create presentations
that include audio, video, and PowerPoint animations,
all synchronized together. Further, users can
switch between prepared templates to create
a specific look and feel. All of this can be
accomplished with no programming or background
skills beyond PowerPoint. The presentations
can be burned to CD or streamed from a server.
The presentations that are created can be used
to supplement the classroom discussion, free
class time from covering homework and technical
material. Results to date indicate an increase
in both learning effectiveness and learning
efficiency from learning activities that enhance
the classroom learning experience—student
evaluations are very high.
This session is appropriate
for faculty from all disciplines and can be
applied to material taught from introductory
to advanced levels. Session participants do
not need any computer experience or expertise
to attend. Further, this session will not only
provide an explanation of how to create these
presentations; we will actually create several
presentations live in the session. All participants
will receive a resource CD containing several
examples and many tips and aids.
Format/Structure:
This session will include discussion and illustration,
as well as live demonstration and creation of
presentations in a real-time mode during the
session. With this format, participants will
receive information on the benefits and usage
of these presentations. However, they will also
receive all the examples and illustrations necessary
to allow them to create these same types of
presentations at their own institutions. Participants
will not only be exposed to the possibilities
for learning and teaching enhancements, they
will also gain all the information and skills
necessary for them to do everything that is
illustrated in the session.
Intended Audience:
This session is appropriate for faculty from
all disciplines and subject areas in accounting.
The tools and skills illustrated can be applied
to material taught at two-year and four-year
institutions and can be applied to all subjects
taught from introductory to advanced levels.
Session participants do not need any computer
experience or expertise to attend.
