2004 Annual Meeting

Poster Session 6:
Creating Online Lectures

Presenter:
Joann R Segovia, Minnesota State University, Moorhead

Description:
This session provides an overview of developing online self-paced accounting lectures to learn and review the session's key concepts and problems. These lectures provide procedural steps for problem solving to assist students' preparation of homework assignments and exam. These audio and visual materials effectively present materials to students with auditory and visual learning styles. Students who used the online video demonstrations in an introductory course found the materials very helpful.

Without extensive video editing expertise, instructors can create online lectures and demonstrations that allow the use of PowerPoint® presentations or Excel® spreadsheets or even use of the whiteboard to explain new concepts step-by-step. Lectures are easily uploaded to WebLearner server that enables synchronous or asynchronous streaming of WebLearner format, or may be licensed to distribute via download or CD ROM through the use of Tegrity® WebLearner, an integrated software solution for creating effective online content. Tegrity® turns teaching into multimedia e-learning by automatically capturing audio, screen recording, and instructor's writing, drawing, pointing, and highlighting of content that the student would see in class. Tegrity® addresses the simplicity needs of educators and allows the easy creation of content and provides flexible distribution options with minimal training and effort.
