This poster presentation describes a two-session-long Excel®-based learning activity that has students competing as managers of companies that own professional baseball teams.
As a result of participating in the competition students will be able to:
- Understand the interrelationships between management decisions and financial statement results.
- Describe the difference between investing, financing and operating decisions.
- Comprehend the interrelationships within and between financial statements.
- Describe the difference between net income and cash from operating activities.
- Calculate the impact of financial leverage on a company's return on shareholders' equity.
- Prepare simple financial statement forecasts.
