Description:
Many classes use group methodologies to implement active learning methods into curricula. Some groups work well and the objectives of the course are achieved. However, some groups fail due to one or two poor participants. Even if one group fails, the instructor’s objective of implementing active learning methodologies fails. Based on such experience, the current instructor has adopted a grouping methodology to select individual group members and a group monitoring method. In addition, this allows group members to learn individual responsibility as well as allow group leaders to emerge. This methodology can be adopted for classes where active and cooperative learning methodologies are planned.
