This session will focus on the use of experiential field projects in an accounting information systems setting. Participants will learn about all phases of teaching experiential field project courses from beginning to completion. The primary focus of the session will be on course development, structure, and administration, including such factors as identifying potential projects, administration issues, discussion of typical projects (based on four years of teaching with this method), time management, project components, grading, advantages and disadvantages of this type of course format, client perceptions, and student perceptions. Emphasis will be given to best practices for conducting effective experiential field project courses. Common pitfalls will also be discussed.
