2004 Annual Meeting

CPE SESSION 26: SUNDAY, AUGUST 8, 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Best Practices for Integrating Accounting Software
throughout Your Curriculum
[Cancelled]

Description/Objectives:
Accounting is the oldest information system in the world whose power comes from its users’ appreciation of it. Today, businesses use accounting software instead of accountants to do more and more of their accounting. How accounting courses successfully integrate accounting software impacts how nonaccounting students perceive the value creation potential of accountants. Depending on your program’s mission, location, and students, the practical possibilities of building a relevant range of accounting software into your curriculum will vary. The faculty panelists in this CPE session will review the readily accessible teaching resources and no-prior-knowledge learning tools available for small business, mid-market, and enterprise-wide accounting software, and how they have successfully integrated them into their accounting courses and curricula.

Format/Structure:
A faculty panel of best practices targeted to share how accounting software can readily be used in accounting courses in a variety of programs. During question-and-answer time participants will have the opportunity to explore the options best for their courses and establish support and mentoring relationships.
