Jane F. Mutchler
Jane Mutchler is Associate Dean and the Ernst & Young/J. W. Holloway Memorial Alumni Professor of Accountancy at the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University. Prior to her appointment as Associate Dean she was Director of the School of Accountancy in the Robinson College. She received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Accounting at the University of South Florida and her Ph.D. in Accounting at the University of Illinois. Jane is a CPA, certified in the state of Florida.
Auditing has been the primary focus of both her teaching and research. Her research focuses on failed companies and auditors' going-concern-opinion decisions related to such companies and has been published in Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory, Journal of Accounting Research, The Accounting Review, and Contemporary Accounting Research.
Jane previously held positions at The Ohio State University, where she was named KPMG, Peat Marwick Faculty Fellow, The University of Arizona, and Penn State University where she was named Coopers & Lybrand Faculty Fellow and Arthur Andersen Professor of Accounting. She has also held faculty internships at the World Bank and at the Philadelphia office of Andersen LLP.
Jane has served as Associate Editor for Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory, Accounting Horizons, and Issues in Accounting Education. She has also served on the editorial boards of The Accounting Review and Contemporary Accounting Research. Jane has served as secretary-treasurer and president of the Auditing Section and Vice President–Education for the American Accounting Association. She has also served as a member of the Accounting Accreditation Committee of the AACSB and is on the committee that is drafting new accounting accreditation standards. Jane is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Internal Auditors where she serves as a member of the Board of Research Advisors.
