Morton Pincus
Morton Pincus is Department Head and Harry B. Carlson-KPMG Peat Marwick Research Professor of Accounting at The University of Iowa. He teaches financial accounting at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and has also taught at Washington University (St. Louis), the Altoona Campus of The Pennsylvania State University, and Stanford University. Dr. Pincus has won awards for both undergraduate and M.B.A. teaching. He received a B.S. in Accounting and an M.A. in Economics from Temple University, and a Ph.D. from Washington University (St. Louis). He is a CPA, certified in Pennsylvania.
Dr. Pincus' research area is financial reporting. He has investigated the relation between accounting information and stock prices; the choice and change of accounting methods, especially with regard to LIFO; and earnings management. He has published widely in Accounting Horizons, Issues in Accounting Education, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Accounting Research, The Accounting Review, and other journals.
Dr. Pincus has served the AAA in several capacities, including Chair of the Annual Meeting Program Committee; Member-at-Large and Financial Accounting and Reporting Section Liaison for the Annual Meeting Program Committee; FARS Midyear Meeting Selection Committee; Accounting Program Leadership Group Midyear Program Planning Committee; FARS Doctoral Awards Committee; AAA Doctoral Fellowships Committee; AAA Notable Contributions to the Literature Screening Committee. He is currently serving on the editorial board of The Accounting Review. In addition to APLG and FARS, he is a member of AAA's American Taxation Association and Diversity Section and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
