Session 22
Developing a Research Project for Introductory Financial Accounting

Presenter:
Warren Schlesinger, Ithaca College

Description:
This session will describe a research project on ratio analysis used in an introductory financial accounting class that was a joint project between two accounting faculty members and the business reference librarian at Ithaca College. The session will describe the project and the important role the librarian played in introducing students to financial databases students could use for their research.

Participants in this session will learn about using SEC/EDGAR, EDGARscan, or S&P Research Insight and how to structure a research project over the course of the semester so that parts of the project are due as the semester progresses. Samples of students work will be available for review as well as material prepared by the business reference librarian.
