Session 21
Flash Video Production and Distribution Techniques for Accounting Education
This Session has been CANCELED
Presenter:
Richard A. Johnson, Frostburg State University
Joyce M. Middleton, Frostburg State University
Description:
The convergence of broad band internet access and recent software innovations significantly reduces the learning curve for creating and deploying flash videos. The videos can be an effective component in an overall blended learning strategy. This session focuses on recommended software (Camtasia Studio) and settings for the screen capture process, converting screen recording videos to the Flash® format, and deploying Flash videos via the internet or CD-ROM. The session includes several example videos combining PowerPoint® animation capabilities with demonstrations of Blackboard® features, accounting research with online library databases, working with online bond pricing calculators, internet resources for financial analysis, illustrating the use of general ledger software, and problem solving with Excel®. A "no edit" approach is recommended as the most efficient path to success. Suggested settings are provided for issues such as audio choices, frames to record per second, and optimal video length. Participants will learn to create and deploy their own accounting education flash videos.
