CPE Session 29: Sunday, August 7, 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Integrating Technology in Accounting Curriculum: Meaningful and Easy Applications of ERP
This Session has been CANCELED
Description/Objectives:
The interactive CDs developed to date and prospectively mimic SAP ERP and SEM software products by incorporating actual software screen shots and accurate navigation steps. The CDs educate in the ways that technology can be used to enhance access to financial and nonfinancial data and customized reports to support tactical and strategic decision making. The concept is that every school cannot afford to develop and maintain technology-related course content, and publishers are not doing so. Thus, this initiative is centralized cooperative effort to develop and maintain materials in the face of constant change. The CDs are designed to educate faculty as well as students and require no investment of faculty time in formal training outside the proposed CPE session. The session provides hands-on access and copies of the CDs. Advancement in curriculum innovation seems especially timely given new AACSB and NASBA standards mandated curriculum advances.
Format/Structure:
The session will conduct of three parts: (1) demonstration of instructional CDs, (2) best practices feedback from faculty and students who have used the CDs, and (3) Hands-On access for participants to test-drive the CDs/software.
Intended Audience:
Faculty interested in integrating meaningful technology into their accounting curriculum financial and managerial courses without major costs (financial and personal).
Presenters:
Philip Reckers, Arizona State University
