The Sentiments of Accounting Instruction: How Student Perceive Their Emotional Engagement to Accounting Faculty

Timothy J. Fogarty
Case Western Reserve University

Abstract: Although accounting instructors more regularly conceptualize their instructional efforts in terms of their mastery of the material or the way in which they deliver it, students are more attuned to the emotional relationship that the classroom creates. Using the written evaluation comments provided by students as a regular part of instructional evaluation at one U.S.university, this paper attempts to outline the emotional attributes of teaching.
