Fair Value Accounting: The Time Is Now

Description/Objectives:
The working draft proposal for Fair Value Measurements was issued during the 1st quarter of 2006. It establishes the methodology for determining the fair value tools to be used when accounting transactions call for Fair Value Measurements. It also clearly establishes a framework for the Financial Statements to move toward a "full" Fair Value Model.

Purpose:
The purpose of the workshop is to examine and evaluate the implications for accounting research and accounting practice of the Fair Value Accounting Model.

Objectives:
Examine: Fair Value Tools used by accountants to measure assets and liabilities.
Evaluate: The philosophical construct of accounting in which relevance is more important than reliability in financial reporting.

Lecture, Discussion, Cases.
