International Accounting Seminar

Description/Objectives:
The objectives of this workshop are to: (1) sensitize accounting faculty and doctoral students to key issues and literature in the area of international accounting and reporting; (2) identify and discuss scholarly research issues and opportunities; (3) assist instructors in formulating distinctive approaches to teaching the subject at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and identifying numerous teaching resources in the field; and (4) examine alternative approaches to internationalizing a school's accounting curriculum and meeting expanded AACSB accreditation requirements.

Topics covered include reasons for national variations in accounting and reporting practices, patterns of accounting development, transnational reporting issues, current state of accounting harmonization/convergence, foreign currency accounting dilemmas, major measurement issues in emerging markets, international accounting pedagogy, and more.
