Revenue Recognition in a SOX World: Theory and Application

Description/Objectives:
Content: To illuminate and illustrate the changing nature of revenue recognition. The workshop will, via the uses of examples and cases, examine the evolution of revenue recognition in a post-SOX accounting environment.

Objectives: (1) Examine SAB No. 104, particularly the paradigm shift in accounting of the entity view versus the customer centric view for the recognition of revenue. (2) Cash Receipt and Revenue Recognition: Does EIFT 00-21 offer additional guidance? (3) What does the UCC Code offer accountants in determining revenue recognition? (4) What are the connections between vendor, reseller, and customer?
