Ethics in a Business Context: Philosophical Foundations, Process Maps for the Resolution of Ethical Dilemmas, SOX, AICPA and Balanced Scorecard Approaches, Values Clarification for Ethical Leadership, and Quality Resources for the Ethics Education of Financial Professionals
Description/Objectives:
This workshop on ethics in a business context will entail:
- An overview of the philosophical underpinnings from the main schools of thought about ethics.
- A discussion of processes for the resolution of ethical dilemmas with recommendations for case study applications.
- An examination of the provisions of the Sarbanes-Oxley federal legislation for codes of conduct and standards of ethical behavior for corporate America and an overview of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants' initiatives for restoring the public confidence in the accounting profession through a renewed focus on ethics in a business context.
- The elucidation of a framework for ethical leadership through values clarification at the individual and organizational culture levels via a balanced scorecard approach
Objective:
To provide a knowledge base for the recognition and resolution of ethical dilemmas in both professional careers and personal lives. This foundation can serve as a basis for the integration of ethics across business curricula and programs. It provides for ethical leadership through values clarification in business and educational environments in the 21st century.
