Culture Match: How Greed Destroyed Arthur Andersen and Enron

ABSTRACT. The demise of both Arthur Andersen and Enron will long be remembered as an American tragedy. Their relentless pursuit of profit fostered cultures permeated with greed and arrogance. For Arthur Andersen, integrity and moral courage were once its core competencies, and its fall from grace shocked investors and the audit profession alike. This paper reflects upon the history and culture of Arthur Andersen, including its involvement with Enron that precipitated their mutual downfall.
