ABSTRACT. From the assumptions: (1) the implementation of more quantity of ERP modules requires more time and (2) that implementing an ERP system is an organizational integration; this paper claims: (a) that different types of modules need different time of implementation and (b) that the combination of different modules could obtain synergies that could contribute to one reduction of the total elapsed time in the ERP implementation. With a sample of 142 transnational firms and applying econometric duration models, we find evidence on the functional modules (accounting and human resources) does not imply additional time when they are compared with operational modules (manufacturing, sales or distribution). Moreover, these latter generate a inverse U-form influence on the elapsed time by reducing from a threshold.
