Re-Forming Accounting Education - a plea

Bala K Balachandran, London South Bank University

ABSTRACT. This paper fits in with the theme of the conference in that it describes current practice in accounting education in the USA, UK, Australia and New Zealand and imagines how it may be improved. It reviews the literature in the USA and UK and pinpoints the deficiencies in accounting education. Interview evidence with 10 accounting academics in universities in London England reveals the problem and sees no change in the status quo.It concludes that accounting academics need a wake up call to kick them out of their inertia.
