ABSTRACT. This study will examine the difference in performance and decision-making capabilities between companies that use SAP systems and those who use all other ERP platforms. Specifically, this study will examine these differences in large manufacturing companies across variables that might shed light on various performance categories: business structure, growth characteristics, labor utilization factors, income characteristics, and efficiency measures. This study will examine these differences by employing a means difference test to determine both magnitude and statistical significance. Further, a binary logistic regression will be employed to reveal potential managerial preferences toward specific ERP systems. This study finds that differences do exist between companies who use SAP systems as compared to those who use other ERP systems.
