Introduction to Using Course Embedded Assessment
(Accounting)
Description/Objectives:
This workshop is for individuals new to Course Embedded Assessment (CEA). The participants will learn what CEA is, how to refine learning objectives for assessment purposes, and how to use classroom assignments and measurement strategies to assess a learning objective. Additionally, participants will discuss how an institution can implement CEA as a primary measure of student learning. The session begins with an introduction to course embedded assessment. Participants will participate in activities that help them learn how to make learning objectives clear and measurable, and how to develop a CEA measurement plan that assesses the extent to which the learning objective was achieved. The workshop will continue with a discussion about the advantages and disadvantages of using CEA as a primary measure of student learning, and the participants are presented with several models of how to implement a coordinated CEA initiative on their campus. A primary outcome of the workshop will be the development of an outline about how CEA might fit into their institution's overall assurance of learning plan, including a description of the benefits and challenges. For actual implementation register for the Implementing CEA works.
