Teaching Governmental Accounting — Getting Back to the Basics

Description/Objectives:
In past GNP Section Education CPE sessions, we have discussed Federal issues (in D.C.), general issues (in San Francisco), and teaching the "other" topics (in Orlando). This year, we get back to our roots—teaching accounting and reporting for state and local governments. This is particularly appropriate for Chicago where our luncheon speaker this year will be Stephen Gauthier from the GFOA. During this session we will talk about different ways of teaching the SLG materials, the different textbooks that are available, and projects and other tools used to enhance the classroom experience. Come prepared to talk about what you do in the classroom, and what you can do to enhance the learning experience for your students.
