(Accounting)
Description/Objectives:
China has become an increasingly important nation in today's world economy. Furthermore, there are some unique characteristics in Chinese accounting and taxation practices. However, relatively little is known among Western accounting academia and practitioners about the accounting and taxation in China. This workshop intends to provide participants with a general understanding of the history of accounting development, current state of accounting and auditing practices, and taxation systems in China. The workshop also discusses some special tax treatments for foreign investments in China. This workshop should be of interest to accounting faculty who wish to internationalize their curriculum, to accounting students with a career interest in Asian-Pacific accounting, and to accounting practitioners who serve clients with business interest in China. It should also be useful to business executives and entrepreneurs who are interested in investing in China.
