CPE Session 34: Sunday, August 5, 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Implementing Course Embedded Assessment
(Accounting)
Description/Objectives:
This hands-on workshop is for those who already understand what CEA is and have well-developed learning objectives. Participants will identify performance criteria or behavioral outcomes for one or more course learning objectives. Then they will develop a CEA plan that includes collecting information about achievement of a learning objective, evaluating the performance based on a standard, and summarizing, evaluating, and reporting the outcomes of the assessment. An essential element of the workshop will include the development of appropriate instruments, rubrics, and/or measurement tools for gathering evidence of student learning. The facilitators will bring many rubric models for the participants to adapt for their personal projects. Participants should bring a syllabus that includes course learning objectives, and also bring samples of activities they are current using in the class. Examples might include descriptions of course assignments, examinations, term papers and reports, course projects, senior theses, portfolios, reflective journals, oral presentations and interviews, simulations, or case studies.
