Techie Teaching Tips: Beyond PowerPoint

Description: The workshop will consist of demonstrations of content-creation software such as Camtasia Studio, Adobe Captivate, Articulate Presenter, Respondus and StudyMate. A review of the output from that software will be demonstrated and discussed with participants. If attendees bring their laptops, we will create accounting content using the various software.

Field of Study: Specialized Knowledge and Applications
Program Level: Basic

Intended Audience: All instructors who want to enhance their instruction with their own multimedia content.

Format/Structure: The workshop will provide step-by-step demonstration of the software tools, and for instructors who bring their own laptops, the chance to create content for their own classes.

Learning Objective: 1. An understanding of the various software tools that facilitate the creation of dynamic learning content. 2. The opportunity to create their own teaching materials. 3. An appreciation of the cost / benefit ratio in development of learning content.

Prerequisites: None

Advanced Preparation Required: If students want to create their own content, they need to bring their own laptops with at least trial versions of the various software installed.
