The American Taxation Association (ATA) was founded in 1974 and joined the American Accounting Association (AAA) in 1978 as the Tax Section of the AAA. Memberships and student memberships are open to persons with an interest in tax education and research. Please see the ATA objectives to learn more about our goals. Under the guidance of President Hughlene Burton, the ATA's committees provide a wide variety of services to the ATA membership. The Trustees of The Southern Federal Tax Institute invite all full-time law school and business school tax professors to attend their 2010 Institute tuition free. In addition, for full-time professors unable to attend, a complimentary CD-ROM of all SFTI outlines 1998-2010 will be available after the Institute. The ATA Trustees have approved the creation of the ATA Memorial Fund fbo Doctoral Education. We grieve the loss of Marty Escoffier, and this general memorial fund will permit ATA members to donate in his memory now and in memory of other losses in the future. (posted March 19, 2010)
