Welcome to the web site
of the Mentoring Committee of the Diversity Section of the American Accounting
Association. We are excited about the opportunity to work with individuals to
enhance their academic careers in any dimensions in which they seek advice and
counsel. The Committee membership includes substantial academic experience in
many of the sub-disciplines of accounting and within many different types of
academic institutions as well as extensive experience in mentoring students and
faculty. The Committee defines its mentoring opportunities broadly to include
all dimensions of the academic career including teaching, research, service as
well as the organizational and behavioral issues that occur within a faculty.
Our goal is to expand the community of scholars available to a faculty
member or doctoral student at their particular institution to a much broader
group. The Committee will facilitate the process of matching the expressed
needs of mentees with appropriate skills within the Committee as well as the
entire Diversity Section.
In accomplishing its objectives, the
Committee recognizes research as an important dimension of academic success.
Thus, the Committee is particularly interested in providing research mentoring
during the entire research process from idea generation to responding to final
reviewer comments. ThereforeDo you have an idea for a research project
and need a "sanity check?" Thinking about research partnering?
Considering submitting a manuscript to a conference or a journal? Trying to
deal with reviewers' comments? If you would like comments on a manuscript or
help responding to reviewers' comments, we can match you with someone in your
research area who will provide feedback. Send your article or questions to:
Theresa Hammond at theresa.hammond@bc.edu or Fred Jacobs
at fjacobs@gsu.edu and we will do our best
to make the appropriate match.
