ABSTRACT:

This paper critiques the present status of traditional academic accounting and explores the constraints that impede an aggressive expansion of accounting into the information systems field. In addition, it points out the opportunities in information systems and presents an education model that will prepare accounting students to take advantage of these opportunities and play a prominent role in information systems development.
