ABSTRACT:

Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) offers to business firms the opportunity to improve productivity by utilizing electronic transaction processing as an integral part of business strategy. EDI may become particularly valuable in enhancing management information and control. This paper outlines the foundations of EDI and presents the results of a 1988 survey on the use of EDI by U.S. firms.
