2017 Teaching, Learning and Curriculum Section Midyear Colloquium

TLC Midyear Colloquium – Research Track

The Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum Section of the American Accounting Association is pleased to announce its 2nd Midyear Colloquium to be held in Tampa, Florida at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay, November 16-18, 2017. We thank KPMG for its generous sponsorship of this meeting.

The research track sessions are as follows:

  1. Editor panel. Panelists: Natalie T. Churyk, Editor-in-Chief, Journal of Accounting Education; Marco Lam, Editor, Global Perspectives on Accounting Education, and Valaria P. Vendrzyk, Editor, Issues in Accounting Education.

  2. One-on-one meetings with accounting education editors/associate editors. Have you ever wondered if your idea would publishable? Or, do you have a manuscript that you would like to send to a journal but you aren’t sure where to send it to or if you are on the right track? Participants will have a unique opportunity to discuss research ideas with multiple editors/associate editors. Depending on the number of registrants, there may be special topic round-tables during rotation. One of the potential roundtables (hosted by Norbert Tschakert) will provide information regarding accounting education awards. Sign-up for one-on-one meetings is available after registering for the conference. Please register by September 30, 2017 to provide organizers with enough time for scheduling.

  3. How to manage the research pipeline. Have you ever wondered how some researchers are able to publish multiple articles each year, have multiple projects in the pipeline, and still have time for teaching and service? You will have the opportunity to ask questions of prolific researchers and outstanding educators during this session.

  4. and 5. Paper presentations. These sessions will illustrate how the authors developed their paper and why the reviewers evaluated the manuscript as worthy of potential publication. Therefore, authors and reviewers will present. Acceptance to the conference serves as an initial review for a special issue of the Journal of Accounting Education. A committee will screen initial submissions and send potentially publishable papers for review (not all manuscripts will be sent for review). Reviewers must be willing to complete initial reviews within 30 days.  Authors and reviewers are expected to register for the TLC Midyear Colloquium within two weeks of acceptance. Be on the lookout for the call for manuscripts and reviewers.
