Annual Meeting Committee Reports

Treasurer's Report:

Treasurer's Report

Program Committee:
Bill Schwartz reported that the number of submissions for the 2000 Annual Meeting was 52. The acceptance rate remained constant, between 30 and 35%. We lost one session due to a decline in submissions. Georgia Saemann (program chair for 2000 - 2001) will be sending an e-mail message to all members inviting them to send a variety of submissions. We want to encourage faculty to participate either through presentations or by attending interesting sessions, i.e., how to do educational research. For additional information regarding our program, contact Georgia Saemann at email: gsaemann@uwm.edu.

Committee on Pedagogy:
Susan Wolcott summarized what she's doing regarding the AICPA competencies and how this committee will link these to the pedagogy, i.e., "How do you know what to do unless you know what students are capable of doing? … through the use of roadmaps." Susan provided the Executive Committee with a report summarizing the committee's work in progress. Additional committee members include Billie Cunningham and Charles Baril. For more information regarding this committee contact Susan Wolcott at email: swolcott@du.edu.

Introductory Accounting Sequence:
Lynn Mazzola reported this committee was meeting during the annual meeting in Philadelphia to continue working on a comprehensive survey, which will be completed during the 2000-2001 academic year. For additional information contact Lynn Mazzola at email: lmazzola@optonline.net.

The Best and Brightest Committee:
Formerly the 150-Hour Committee, Barbara Scofield reported this committee plans to provide support for those who have not yet adopted the 150-hour requirement through web sites, listservs, etc. Barbara distributed a committee report for 1999 - 2000, summarizing the status of to 150-hour requirement and related issues and a separate report summarizing committee plans for 2000 - 2001. For more information contact Barbara Scofield at email: scofield_b@utpb.edu.

New Faculty Handbook:
Lynn Griffin submitted a report describing the committee's activities and a table of contents for the handbook. The handbook should be completed and printed during the upcoming year. Once complete, this will become the New Faculty committee. For information contact Lynn Griffin at email: griffinl@aurora.ncat.edu.
