Annual Meeting Committee Reports

Active Learning Committee, (Dasaratha V. Rama, University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth). This committee will now be split into two, the Service Learning Committee and the Committee on Pedagogy. D. V. Rama will chair the Service Learning Committee this year and complete work on a document in progress. Susan Wolcott will chair the Committee on Pedagogy.

By-Laws Review, (Dick Baker, Northern Illinois University) The committee completed a by-laws review and presented the revised by-laws to the membership. These were unanimously approved on August 16, 1999.

Membership, (Lanny Solomon, University of Missouri - Kansas City) The committee is currently working on updating the membership brochure and developing a plan to retain and increase membership.

New Faculty Handbook, (Lynn Griffin, North Carolina A & T State University) This committee is currently developing a handbook and will finish the project during the next year.

Program Committee, (Bill Schwartz, Virginia Commonwealth University) The T&C Section received 70 paper or panel submissions for presentation at the 1999 AAA Meeting. Twenty-one papers were accepted for presentation at paper/panel sessions and nine were accepted for presentation at the forum. The committee is working on refining the review process.

Two-Year College Issues, (Susan Crosson, Santa Fe Community College) This committee reported on activities related to Two-Year Colleges. The Section plans to continue to reach out to its two-year college members in the future.

150-Hour Program Issues, (Barbara Scofield, University of Texas of the Permian Basin) Professor Scofield provided a summary of the status of the 150-hour requirement regarding the number of states who have passed the law and its planned implementation. The committee will continue to gather information on this issue.
