The following proposed change to the
Teaching and Curriculum Section Bylaws will be voted on at the annual section
business meeting to be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 14, 2000.
Section V1, C:
The Vice Chair- Practice shall be a member from practice elected for a two-year
term.
Rationale:
The proposal is to change the term for the Vice Chair-Practice from the current
one-year time period to a two-year time period. This change will make the term
served by the Vice Chair-Practice consistent with terms served by other
Executive Committee members. For example, each Chair serves two years, one year
as Vice Chair and one year as Chair. The Secretary and Treasurer are both
elected for one-year terms, but with the option of serving two additional
years.
Changing the term for the Vice
Chair-Practice also makes practical sense, since currently the person is
leaving the position at a time when he or she is likely to be most familiar
with issues facing the Section. A two-year term would therefore allow the Vice
Chair-Practice sufficient time to make a significant contribution to the
Section.
