AnnouncementsTeaching and Curriculum Section at the AAA Annual Meeting in San Antonio The Teaching and Curriculum Section will meet on Thursday, August 15, 2002, from 6:45 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. The Section annual meeting will follow the breakfast. Details on the room will be available at the Annual Meeting web site: http://accounting.rutgers.edu/raw/aaa/2002annual/meetinginfo.htm and upon check-in at the registration of the Annual Meeting. The T&C Section will be presenting their first "The Teaching and Curriculum Section Distinguished Achievement Award" for notable contributions to accounting education, research, and practice at the Annual Meeting. The criteria for selection are significant scholarly output in the area of accounting education and professional activities aimed at enhancing accounting curriculum and delivery, including participation in T&C section activities and/or other beneficial service to accounting educators. Come to San Antonio to find out the recipient for this award. T&C Research Award Carolyn A. Strand, Assistant Professor at Seattle Pacific University, is the recipient of an award for an outstanding contribution to education research for an article, "Using the Team-Learning Model in a Managerial Accounting Class: An Experiment in Cooperative Learning." Dr. Strand will receive the award and a check for $500 at the T&C Section breakfast on August 15, 2002, in San Antonio, Texas. Call for Volunteers Volunteers are invited to serve on AAA Teaching and Curriculum Section Committee for the 20022003 academic year. The committee will meet briefly after the T&C Breakfast/Business meeting. In Memoriam Nancy Foran , University of Michigan-Dearborn , passed away on Monday, February 25, 2002, from brain cancer. She was buried on Thursday, February 28, 2002, in Los Angeles where she grew up. Nancy was a good friend and hard worker for the T&C section. She was chair of the Membership Committee. Her husband, Mike Foran, has been chair of the Midwest AAA region. "We could not ask for a better colleague or more decent human being than Nancy Foran. Her presence will be sorely missed but I am sure that her spirit will live on with us all." |
