A Message from the ChairJames E. Rebele I would like to begin this Chair's Message by thanking members of this year's Executive Committee for their help throughout the year. Don Wygal, Bette Kozlowski, Janet Cassagio, Sandy Byrd, and Kevin Stocks have made my time as Teaching and Curriculum Section Chair both enjoyable and easier than it otherwise would have been. I would also like to thank those committee chairs, members of committees, and regional coordinators who worked hard this year on behalf of the Section. D. V. Rama deserves special thanks for taking on duties as Section Webmaster while also chairing a committee. The work of the Section is largely done at the committee and region levels, and the Section appreciates the efforts of those who volunteered to serve in this capacity. As the AAA Annual Meeting draws closer, I would like to again invite all T & C Section members to attend the business meeting on Monday, August 14 at 2:00. We actually do discuss issues affecting the Section's future activities at the business meeting, so it is important to have a large turnout on the 14th. Also, please plan to attend the Section breakfast on Tuesday, August 15 at 7:00. Room assignments for these events will be available in the meeting program. Bill Schwartz and Georgia Saemann have put together interesting and informative sessions for the meeting. We thank Bill and Georgia for their hard work this year. Please plan to attend as many T & C Section sessions as you can. I would like to put in a plug for the T & C panel session on developing students' competencies that will be held on Tuesday, August 15, from 4:00-5:30. I thank Section members for the opportunity to chair the Teaching and Curriculum Section for this past year. This truly has been a labor of love. I appreciate all the support that I received, and I hope that our efforts have made a positive difference for the Section. I want to close this message by encouraging members to become more involved in the Teaching and Curriculum Section. The past year has shown me that one thing the T & C Section really needs is for more members to come forward and volunteer their time to work on Section activities. There is much that the T & C Section can do to benefit its members, but members must first come forward to help the Section. Thanks, and I look forward to seeing you in Philadelphia. Jim Rebele |
