People Are Talking
One of the new links on our website is called "People Are Talking about
the T&C." We hope that you will click on to this link and share this
information with colleagues in your department. If they are not members of our
section, perhaps these testimonials will cause them to take notice and join. In
the meantime, here is a sample of what you will find:
"Several years ago, I had the opportunity to participate in
the creation of the Teaching and Curriculum Section of AAA and later served as
its second president. I felt that this was an important initiative in order to
bring greater attention and emphasis in AAA programming to teaching, an area
that was probably underrepresented at that time. I believe the section has done
a great deal to open up the Association to a broader set of academic members.
As President of AAA in 1999-2000, I became more aware of how this section
serves its members and provides an important clearing-house function for the
exchange of information, views, and opinions that can have a positive and
immediate impact on the teaching of accounting. While one might argue that the
entire AAA should have an emphasis on teaching and curriculum, the emphasis
this section brings for those who want a more targeted and specialized group in
this area is important. I would urge all AAA members to consider how the
Teaching and Curriculum section can enhance their roles as faculty
members."
Jan Williams
AAA President, 1999-2000
"Every AAA member who has teaching responsibilities should
also be a member of the Teaching and Curriculum section. It is the only section
that is focused entirely on enhancing classroom performance and in keeping
members up to date on the latest trends in accounting education. In this period
of renewed attention on student learning and performance, the T&C section
emphasizes what is important to both the students in our classes and the
employers who hire our graduates."
