Two Year Section Board Duties

Chairperson

  • Prepares budget
  • Determines current year goals for the TYC
  • Develops membership
  • Member of council meeting - paid for by Section
    • Helps you learn about AAA sections and regions
    • Get ideas to improve the section
  • Works with Program Chair and Editor to select the next Editor/Treasurer
    • Signs approval for travel reimbursement
    • Receives financial statements each month
  • Writes an article in the spring Communicator
  • Arranges annual meeting luncheon
  • Asks the incoming AAA President to speak at the annual meeting luncheon
  • Selects with the board the teacher of the year and the lifetime award
  • Arranges for plaques for teacher of year and lifetime award
  • Organizes TYC Board meeting at annual meeting -- inviting new editor
  • Conducts annual meeting luncheon
  • Must Attend Annual Meeting
  • After one term becomes Regional Representative Coordinator
Vice Chairperson (Program Chair)
  • Arranges the 3 panels and forum papers at annual meeting
    • Works with AAA headquarters and the current year Program Liaison
    • Must use the computer program from AAA to submit and approve each panel
    • Panels can be ones that are created or ones that are submitted to AAA
  • Helps develop membership
  • Works with the chair to select editor
  • Arranges for thank you plaque for Chair
  • Helps the new Editor write the Fall Communicator
  • Must attend annual meeting
Secretary/Editor
  • Creates the Fall (September) and Spring (March) Communicator
  • Communicator is only published on line so articles must be submitted to AAA in word.doc format and ads in PDF format
  • Ask members to submit papers (1 ½ page maximum) for Communicator
  • Ask the new AAA president to write an article for the Fall Communicator
  • Ask the TYC Section Chairperson to write an article for the Spring Communicator
  • Contact each publisher to arrange for advertisement in the Communicator
    • See links on TYC AAA website for publishers
      $100 half page, $150 full page, $250 for 2-page spread
  • Advertise the Teacher of the Year and Lifetime Awards in Fall Communicator
  • Must attend annual meeting
Regional Representative Coordinator
  • Mentors new Chairperson
  • Verifies the list of Regional Representatives
  • Encourages regional representatives to promote two-year section panels at regional meetings
