Are you interested in offering a complete and fully functional on-line course? Would you like to take advantage of existing technology to better communicate with your students, post supplementary course materials, or conduct on-line testing and grading?

As the leading college textbook publisher, Prentice Hall has formed close alliances with each of the leading on-line platform providers—Blackboard, WebCT, and our own soon-to-be-released Pearson CourseCompass.

What Do You Need?
Content and Flexibility
Are you looking for a turnkey solution, a complete course preloaded and ready for immediate use? Or do you want to personally invest the time to create the lecture content, testing materials, and more?

Service
What type of service—other than that provided by your school—is available to you, your students, and school administrators by the textbook publishing company or by the on-line platform (e.g., Blackboard, WebCT, eCollege, or Pearson Course Compass)? What type of service do you need/want to have?

Cost/Availability
How will students “access” the course? How will they “purchase” the course? What is the price for the on-line course?

What Platforms are Available?
Two Levels of Service
We offer two levels of service for most of our on-line accounting courses on these platforms: Standard and Premium.

Standard Courses (Free with New Text Purchase)
Standard Courses include all of the traditional features of an on-line course: on-line testing, course management and page tracking, communication (i.e., bulletin board, chat rooms, and e-mail), course information, calendar, Powerpoints, Gradebook, etc.

Premium Courses (Available at a Nominal Price with New Text Purchase)
Premium Courses include all of the features of the Standard Courses described above. In addition, these include a complete content cartridge containing rich Prentice Hall course and lecture materials—as well as homework assignment recommendations—ready to go. Some of our premium courses also include unique video and audio downloads to help personalize the course and enhance student understanding.

How Can Prentice Hall Help?
Available Courses for Jan. ’01
Prentice Hall has on-line courses available for January 2001 for Horngren Accounting 4e, Harrison Financial Accounting 4e, and Horngren Cost Accounting 10e. More courses are in development for Fall 2001.

Unique Prentice Hall Features
Prentice Hall offers many distinctive features for our textbook adopters—including the highest possible service from our Platform partners. For several of our on-line courses, including Harrison Financial Accounting 4e, the Premium course provides:

  • Custom-created PowerPoint slides with audio to assist students in understanding key concepts.
  • Unique video “wraps” for each text chapter feature a faculty member experienced in conducting on-line courses. The insights he shares with students help them 1) better prepare to read the chapter and then 2) review the key concepts and takeaway lessons prior to taking an exam.
