Message From the Chair

This year at the National AAA meeting in Atlanta, the Section is planning a special all-day CPE session for two-year college faculty called “More Than A Classroom, Blending Technology into First-Year Accounting Courses at Two-Year Colleges.” This workshop will feature our best and will be offered in addition to our many two-year centered programs and luncheon at the Annual Meeting. Please consider joining us at the national meeting to visit with colleagues, learn about what’s new in the introductory accounting courses, and acknowledge what we do so well—teach!

It is time to nominate outstanding faculty for two awards; please follow the directions in this newsletter to recommend a deserving candidate. In August at the national meeting, the recipients of the Educator of the Year and the Lifetime Achievement in Accounting Education at Two-Year Colleges will be announced at our Two-Year Section luncheon. I encourage you to nominate a person you think is worthy of either award.

One of the best ways to enjoy accounting education is to attend regional AAA meetings. Many of the sessions focus on teaching and curriculum issues and are a great place to catch up with colleagues and make some new friends as well. Hope to see you there!

Thank you for being a member of the Two-Year Section. Through your participation and input, it’s our best year yet!
