Securities and Exchange Commission Liaison Committee

Charge:

Conduct activities as appropriate to assist communication and interaction between the SEC and the membership of the Association. Specifically:

1. Prepare and transmit a response to the staff of the Securities and Exchange Commission on selected proposals soliciting views from the public concerning auditing and financial accounting and reporting.

2. Make recommendations and/or develop program(s) that will assist the teaching of, and conducting research on, topics related to the SEC and its activities.

3. Make recommendations to the Executive Committee for activities that will enhance the quality and quantity of interactions between the SEC and the Association.

4. Keep AAA members, through the use of the Internet or other means, informed of:

a. SEC Developments

b. Research opportunities related to SEC work or issues with which they are dealing

c. The SEC Academic Fellow Program

5. Consult with selected regional program chairs early in the academic year to facilitate a session that includes a presentation by the SEC Academic Fellow.

6. Assist the recruiting of SEC Academic Fellow candidates.

7. Provide a progress report to the Executive Committee liaison in time to be included in the agenda book for each Executive Committee meeting.
