2009–2010 AAA COMMITTEES


Outstanding Accounting Educator Award Committee


Charge:
Carry out all activities related to the Association's Outstanding Accounting Educator Award program. Specifically:

  • The general criteria, as adopted in 1972 when the Outstanding Accounting Educator Award was initiated, are contributions to accounting education from scholarly endeavors in research and teaching over a sustained period of time through:
    1. educational innovation,
    2. excellence in teaching,
    3. publications,
    4. research guidance to graduate students, and
    5. significant involvement in professional and academic societies and activities.
  • Evaluate and propose to the Executive Committee any changes, as necessary, in the set of criteria to be used to select the Outstanding Educator.
  • Select one or (at most) two recipient(s) of the Outstanding Accounting Educator Award to be presented at the 2010 annual meeting using criteria as approved by the Executive Committee.

Membership: 
Committee members are appointed annually by the Presidents

Meeting:
The committee meets as needed.

Responsibilities

  • The AAA Awards Coordinator (Arlene Oliver) will ensure the call for submission page is updated by the beginning of September.
  • The AAA Awards Coordinator will arrange for the call for submissions announcement to be included:
    • In the Fall and Winter edition of the Accounting Education News
    • On the AAA website, (alternating each award submission announcement on the front page of the website until submission deadline)
    • Multi-topic mass emails, (alternating each award announcement to be included in each multi-topic email until submission deadline)
  • The submission deadline is January 31st and the Chair will notify the AAA Awards Coordinator of the winner at awards@aaahq.org by April 15th.  The AAA Awards Coordinator will notify the AAA President, Executive Committee Liaison and the Executive Director of the winner.
  • The AAA President will send a congratulatory email/letter to the winner, copying the Executive Director and Committee Chair. 
  • After the winner(s) has been notified by the President of the AAA Awards Coordinator will collect biography information for the Annual Meeting Program.
  • The Director of Communications will notify the Committee Chair, PricewaterhouseCoopers representative and awardee(s) with annual meeting onsite presentation instructions. 
  • The Chair will write a short article (200 words or less) to be included in the Fall Accounting Education News.  This article should be sent to awards@aaahq.org no later than June 1st. 
  • The Chair prepares and sends a progress report twice every term-year, with deadlines of October 23th 2009 and February 26th 2010, to the Executive Committee Liaison, AAA President, and Executive Director regarding accomplishments or modifications
