AAA Governance Task Force
Charge:
Review the governance, organizational, and committee structures of the AAA as outlined in the Bylaws and detailed in the policies and procedures manual (Executive Committee, Council, and their relationships to sections and regions) for its consistency with and appropriateness to support and facilitate the strategic goals of the association as outlined in the AAA Strategic Vision Document. The task force should not be limited to the existing governance and organization structure. The task force should ensure that their recommendations support the current and planned membership composition.
Provide a report to the Executive Committee no later than the May2010 strategic planning session. The report should review the existing governance, organizational, and committee structure and include:
- A review and comparison of our governance, organizational, and committee structures to other similar organizations and associations.
- A consideration of the type of structure that would be effective to support and facilitate the current and planned membership and the related goals laid out in the AAA Strategic Vision Document.
- An identification of strengths and weaknesses of the AAA current structure to facilitate the goals and objectives as specified in the AAA Strategic Vision Document.
- Recommendations for changes to our current governance, organizational, and committee structures including changes in the AAA bylaws and other governance issues including the policies and procedures manual.
Membership:
New committee members are appointed annually by the President.
Meetings:
The Committee will meet as needed.
