Information Requested of Sections and Regions
In response to repeated management letters from our auditors and a
recognition that a complete set of By-Laws should be on file, some additional
information has been requested from Sections and Regions (copies of By-Laws,
budgets, reimbursement policies). These requests for budgets, policies, copies
of By-Laws, etc., were approved by Council in March 1998. They are designed to
enhance the AAA's ability to support Sections and Regions, not to remove
authority from them. Forms 1, 2, and 3 are designed to convey
this information. (Form 1 [By-Laws and Expense
Policy Transmittal] is due September 1, if not already submitted, and
whenever amendments are made; Form 2 [Section
Budget] or Form 3 [Region Budget] is due every
August 15, for the period covering the following September 1 through August
31.)
As approved by Council in March 1998, in response to a recommendation from
the AAA's auditor, Sections and Regions are requested to submit a copy of
a budget for each fiscal year. The annual budget should be sent to AAA
headquarters by August 15 of each year.
Section and Region Treasurers and/or Presidents should refer to historical financial data provided by the AAA accounting department in preparing annual budgets. These reports are posted in the section and region financial areas of the AAACommons (http://commons.aaahq.org/groups/7e0cd8a4b1/summary)
Sections and Regions are also requested to notify AAA staff of all officers,
editors, program chairs, committees or task forces, and other positions held by
their members. The AAA will incorporate a record of these Section and Region
appointments into the online directory and its membership database on a
prospective basis. Such notifications may be addressed to:
