This brief summary
reports on the survey instrument used and the detailed results
of the survey. The primary goal of this report is to make
timely information available to as many members as possible. A
far more complete report is under consideration for
publication by an Association-wide journal.*
A survey instrument
Exhibit A was
mailed to a random selection of 2,700 members of the American
Accounting Association in Spring 1995. The members were asked
to indicate their familiarity with existing AAA services, and,
if familiar, their assessments of the services importance and
the AAAs performance. Also, they were asked about general
goals, demographic information, and involvement with the AAA.
The survey yielded 545 useful responses (20% rate) and over
600 replies to six open-ended questions.
Exhibit B provides
means and standard deviations of responses.
