Assistance with learning outcome assessment (AOL) guidance

The 2012-2013 Teaching Resources Committee administered a survey to identify ATA members who are willing to assist other members who are looking for learning outcome assessment (AOL) guidance. The results of the survey are available by clicking on this link.

Online Exchange of Assessment Materials--Share Your Methods

The 2008-2009 ATA Graduate and Undergraduate Assessment and Accreditation Issues Committees and Teaching Resources Committee have been given the charge to develop an online exchange of assessment materials that are being used in tax courses. The assessment materials can be of any form, including exam questions, homework problems, cases, as well as other methods.  If you are willing to share examples of methods (rubrics and metrics) you use to assess direct learning objectives in your tax courses, please send them as an e-mail attachment to strobel@moore.sc.edu.  Include the words “Assessment Materials” in the subject line.

The text of the message should include the following information:

1.   The learning objective being assessed;
2.   The course (name) in which the objective is assessed;
3.   Advice about concerns or problems you experienced in assessing the learning objective in your tax course.

The assessment materials should be formatted as Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF files.

We appreciate your help and look forward to receiving your assessment materials.

The 2006-2007 Accreditation and Curriculum Issues Committee developed a questionnaire on assessment plans for accounting programs and the Introductory Tax Course. Members of the APLG and ATA were asked to complete the questionnaire, and 86 people responded to the survey. The questionnaire was set up so that people could respond to questions on the assessment of the accounting program or assessment related to the Introductory Tax course or both. The results of the survey are available by clicking on the links below.

In addition, the Committee asked people to contribute their assessment materials, and sent email messages to all the individuals who volunteered to share their materials. Several are below, and additional materials will be posted on this website as they become available.
