The Auditing Section
celebrated its 25th anniversary at its 2001 Midyear Meeting January 11–13,
in Houston, Texas. The meeting featured the continuing tradition of an
interesting and well-attended CPE session. In addition, there were numerous
panels and presentations as well as outstanding plenary sessions and a special
tribute to all of the Sections’ past presidents.

This year’s meeting also included the second annual
doctoral consortium directed by Rick Tubbs (University of Iowa). Special thanks
go to KPMG for its continuing sponsorship of the Midyear Meeting, and to the
Program Committee: Linda McDaniel, Chair (The University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill), Jeff Cohen (Boston College), Joanna Ho (University of California,
Irvine), Jean Bedard (Northeastern University), Jerry R. Strawser (University
of Houston), Roger D. Martin (Indiana University), and Dana Hermanson (Kennesaw
