CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

Outstanding Auditing Dissertation Award


The Section seeks nominations for its annual Outstanding Auditing Dissertation Award. The author of the dissertation judged to make the most outstanding contribution to auditing knowledge, among those dissertations nominated for consideration, will receive the award. The assessment of what constitutes an outstanding contribution will be based on, but not limited to, the following criteria:

  • the timeliness and importance of the problem(s) addressed;
  • the creativity of the research;
  • the appropriateness of the research method and analysis;
  • the potential for publication in a scholarly journal; and
  • the practice-impact potential of the results.
  • An outstanding dissertation can be expected to rate highly with respect to all these criteria. Selection of the award winner will be made by the Sectionís Outstanding Dissertation in Auditing Committee.

    A dissertation must be nominated by either the person who authored it or one or more members of the dissertation committee. Nominations will be considered to be complete when the following materials have been submitted:

    Entries must be received by February 28, 1997. The Award recipient will be notified by May 10th and will receive the award during the auditing Sectionís luncheon at the AAA annual meeting in August 1997.
