Accounting Forum, a refereed journal published under the auspices of the School of Accounting, University of South Australia, will be publishing a special issue in 1998.
The increasing awareness of the role of auditing in contemporary democratic societies is becoming more acute. The development of auditing and critical theory aims to loosen accounting from the malaises of the 1980s. This issue aims to evaluate the role of auditing in contemporary liberal-democratic societies. The Editors would welcome submissions from a wide range of areas, especially the role of auditing in finance capitalism and the problems it poses for democratic accountability. The following topics are indicative of these concerns:
