JERRY SULLIVAN RECEIVES 1996 DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AUDITING AWARD


At the Auditing Section's Annual Meeting in Chicago on August 15, Jerry Sullivan was honored for his past and continuing service to the auditing profession. Mr. Sullivan (Jerry) is presently the Executive Director of the Public Oversight Board and serves on the Audit Committees of several public companies. Previously he was a partner in the national office of Coopers & Lybrand where he served as the firmís Director of Audit Policy through 1968 and on the firmís International Practice Committee that established audit policy on a worldwide basis. Mr. Sullivan served the profession as Chairman of the auditing Standard Board of the AICPA where he was instrumental in establishing and developing the agenda leading to the issuance of the ten statements on auditing standards in 1988 dealing with the ìexpectation gap. He also served on the advisory board of the Treadway Commission.

Jerry is an author of the 10th edition of Montgomery's Auditing which has been published in both professional and college versions.

He received his B.S. in accounting from Dusquesne University and an M.B.A. from George Washington University. He is the recipient of the Sells Award and the Pennsylvania Institute of CPAsí Award for Achievement on the CPA exam.
